Grandmother falls to the ground as she begs Sam not to disappoint her.
At that instant, Neung and Mon rush in, having just arrived. Neung deems Grandmother’s conception of happiness false and instructs her to cease her control over others. Sam weeps and asks everyone to calm down, but Neung continues to dispute with Grandmother until she is instructed to leave. As Sam approaches Grandmother, who keeps falling, Neung explains that it’s all an act, as Grandmother used the same strategy on her.
Sam is perplexed, and Neung advises her to put herself first for a change. She goes with Mon, and when Sam tries to follow them, her grandmother informs her she will sever ties if she does. Neung instructs her to pick between her grandmother and Mon, and Sam chooses Mon. Grandmother collapses from her chair in disbelief as Neung smiles.
